Mickey Bercegeay

March 26, 1971 — March 31, 2020

Mickey Joseph Bercegeay, born 03/26/1971, left his earthly body, and entered into eternal salvation early 03/31/2020. Those of us left behind to continue to love and miss him are his wife of 26 years, Kari Sheets Bercegeay; his 4 children, Christopher Hill and spouse, Lindsay, Blake Hill and spouse, Jessica, Dakota Bercegeay and girlfriend, Amy, Ashtyn Bercegeay Ramoin and spouse, Brandon; 3 grandchildren he adored, Greyson, Nolan, and Noah; his parents, James M. (Jimmy) and Joan Frederic Bercegeay; his siblings, Danny and Crystal Bercegeay, Cindy and Tony Delaune, Cherie and Travis Walker; his sister and brother-in-laws on Kari’s side, Sandi and William C. Clark, Robin and Russell Bourque, Anne Marie and Ralland Boone Jr, Damian and Shawnna Sheets, brother-in-law, Scott Shaddinger; as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews he loved with all his heart; a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; his godmother, Sonja Frederic; and his 3 godchildren, Gavan Bercegeay, Stevie Bercegeay, and Carter Murphy. The family would also like to recognize a few of his special friends that he considered brothers at heart: His HMM-268 Red Dragons USMC squadron, especially, John “Fish” Harrington and Brian Corsale; Mario Barrilleaux, Barron Greenwalt, Deric Murphy, and Randy Marcello. It would be remiss of me not to add that he also has a multitude of “his boys”, the ones he coached in Little League SLYFA St. Amant Wildcats, and our EA Spartan boys; we seemed to always have a car or house full after a game. He is preceded in death by his mother and father in law, Frances R. and John Ferrell Sheets; his grandparents, Carmen Bercegeay, Audrey Bercegeay Young, Johney Frederic, Leonise Frederic, and his godfather, Jerry “Duck” Bercegeay. Mickey served in the United States Marine Corps during Operation Desert Storm, he served his country, the country he loved, with honor and pride. Kari and Mickey’s love story was as close to love at first site as could be, Mickey was her rock, her safe place, her strength. Mickey loved his family with everything in him, he would usually be one of the first to lend a helping hand when and if he could. He would drive hours to help one of his children in need. He was very selfless, and just a good man. He loved God; he and Kari would eventually make Healing Place Church their church home, where he served as an usher. His smile, his beautiful blue eyes radiated with love. His favorite chapter in the Bible was from Ephesians 6:10-24; and he loved handing out his prized Armor of God coins to those he loved. Ephesians 6:10-11…Finally, my brethren, be strong in The Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. We believe Jesus is our Savior, and that Mickey has been completely healed and saved in Jesus, standing strong and proud as a Soldier in Jesus’ Army. Our beloved Mickey, we don’t say goodbye, but see you later. Save a place for us. Because of the current crisis in our country, and the world, we will only be allowed a very small gathering of immediate family, however we will have a memorial service/celebration of Mickey’s life once all this has cleared. God and family was everything to Mickey, he would want to tell you to keep God 1st in your life, and to always, always, say I Love You to the ones you love, always, always, say I am sorry, and always, always, look for the good in life. We would like to thank Dr. Steven Holmes and his staff, OLOL Ascension ER and Acadian Ambulance Services. Mickey, “BJ”, “Pops”, “MickBo” we love you. Ascension Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
