Joanie Mistretta

Joanie Fresh Mistretta passed away surrounded by her family at home in Donaldsonville, LA after a short battle with cancer at 9:20 am Monday, December 14, 2020. She was 80 years old and a native of Harahan, LA. She taught and retired from Ascension Catholic Schools. She also taught at Terrebone High School in Houma, LA, Assumption High School in Napoleonville, LA, and St. Alphonsus in Baton Rouge, LA. She was a member of Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church. Visiting will be at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 from 8:30 am until mass of the Resurrection at 11 am. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bucky Mistretta; four daughters, Colleen Mistretta and husband Bruce Haenny, Keri Manuel and husband Eric, Melissa Ryan and husband Todd, and Joni Chustz and husband Denny; four sons, Craig Mistretta and wife Kristie, Corey Mistretta and wife Michelle, Guy Mistretta and wife Melissa, and Jon Mistretta and wife Mary; a sister, Carole Gillen; 20 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her mother, Frances; father, Forrest; her brother, Jimmy Fresh.
