Jeremy Blakeney

March 11, 1982 — March 11, 2022

Jeremy Chase Blakeney, our beloved brother, passed away with Jesus in his heart on his 40th birthday, March 11, 2022, in Baton Rouge, LA.

Jeremy is survived by his father, Everett Joseph Blakeney (Sheri), his brother, Jason Joseph Blakeney, his niece, Jade Blakeney (David), his girlfriend, Lisa Dodge, his Godmother, Marty Chase Bryant (Kevin), and several loving cousins including Dale Cavalier (Scarlett), Allen Buras (Melissa), Jake Causey (Christon), Josh Causey (Melinda), Jared Causey (Katie) and their children.

Jeremy was born on March 11, 1982, to parents Melisa Chase (deceased) and Everett Blakeney in New Orleans, LA as a “CODA” (Child of Deaf Adults). Jeremy was raised bilingually by signing ASL (American Sign Language) and speaking English.

Jeremy would tell you his early years were his fondest; spending time with his family at his grandparents’ camp on Black River Lake making lasting memories that he would later in life enjoy reminiscing.

Jeremy excelled at shooting billiards and was extremely talented at drawing artistic portraits in graphite pencil. He enjoyed most genres of music and spending time with his girlfriend, Lisa.

Despite many years fighting his illness of addiction, Jeremy recently decided to make his way back to Jesus Christ, his Lord, and Savior, with the guidance of his sponsor, Ken Rhea, attending Purpose Church in Baton Rouge, pastored by Chad and Angel Dinkel.

Jeremy expressed feeling the power of Christ which led him to the front row of church in praise that morning, and Jesus called him home that night. Romans 13:12 “The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.”

Private Urn Burial Service for close family and friends at his mother’s graveside will be held on Thursday, March 24th, 3:30 pm at Resthaven Gardens of Memory located at 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70816.
