William Root

William H. Root "Bill" "Peanut", age 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Cotton Valley, LA on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 11:36 a.m. A former resident of Gonzales, LA and native of Baker, LA. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Dow Chemical. Visiting at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St., Gonzales, LA on Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until service at 12:00 noon conducted by Pastor Jimmy Granger. Burial at Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge, LA. Survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Loretta Coile and husband, Randall, and Carla Elliott; sister, Mae Root Campbell; three grandchildren, James Ryan Granger, Austin Granger, and Shane Tarver; and four great grandchildren, Kane Granger, Hope Granger, Linkin Tarver, and Brooklin Tarver. Preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Gertrude Root; sister, Belle Breaud; son, Jerry Elliott; and granddaughter, Crystal Tarver. Pallbearers will be Randall Coile, Austin Granger, George Griggs, James Elliott, Timothy Dantzler, and Michael Griggs. Honorary pallbearers are James Granger and Kane Granger.
