William “Willie” Paul Melancon, 91, of St. Amant, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025, in Katy, Texas with his daughter by his side. Willie was born in Wadesboro, Louisiana to Lydia Hebert and Gustave Melancon on January 17, 1934.
Willie worked tirelessly as a welder and insulator at surrounding plants near Gonzales, LA. He enjoyed dancing, gardening, music, and family the most. Willie was a devoted Christian who loved and believed in the Lord his Savior.
He is survived by his children, Rodney Melancon (Cheryl), Debbie Prejean (Kerry),
Grand children, Storm Melancon, Shianne Melancon, Candice Shoaf (Chris), and Adam Prejean. Great Grandchildren, Zara Via, Grayson and Dallas Kayda. Stepdaughters and Stepson, Ted Ivy, Karla Anderson (Gene), Connie Tullos (John Jr.), and Missie Braud. Step Grandchildren Jason Anderson, Wendy Phillips (Scott), Cody Braud (Rheka), Beverly Andrews (Vicente Diaz), Ellen Toups (Trey), Joy Babin Mahan (Justin). Step Great Grandchildren, Emery and Hayes Phillips, Cain and Calli Braud, Nevaeh and Spencer Diaz, Cohen, Easton, and Declan Toups, and Brennan Turman.
Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lydia (Hebert) and Gustave Melancon. Siblings, Wilton (Boy) Melancon, Wilma Schum, Milton Melancon, Mable Braud, Elizabeth (Betty) Hebert, Melvin Melancon, Angus Melancon, and Daniel Melancon. Late wives: Shirley Thomassie Melancon, Jenelle Moran and Jeanette Braud. Step Daughter Linda (Chris) Ivy.
Funeral service will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant, Louisiana, on Friday, May 23, 2025, with Father Matthew Lorrain. Burial service will follow mass at Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Friday, May 23, 2025, 9am-11am. Ascension Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.
Pall Bearers are Storm Melancon, Adam Prejean, Chris Shoaf, Kerry Prejean, Ted Ivy. Honorary Pall Bearer will be Rodney Melancon.
Willie never forgot to tell the people he loved that he loved them. He was a great dancer and loved life! He had a great and adventurous life with lots of stories and memories we will all cherish.
