Viola Powers

A retired legal secretary and a resident of San Diego, she died Friday, May 13, 2011, at her home. She was 85 and a native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St., Gonzales, on Friday, May 20, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting continues at the funeral home Saturday, May 21, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Interment in Hope Haven Garden of Memories Cemetery. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Eldon M. Powers stepdaughter, Judy Powers Gallien and husband Joseph W. son, Kenneth L. Powers and wife Claudia granddaughter, Cheri Gallien Shubert and husband John and numerous cousins and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Borskey and Eunice Gautreau Borskey. In her spare time she enjoyed doing crafts and spending time with family.
