Terry Leon Rapier, 79, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2026, at Landmark of Baton Rouge. Born in Ft. Worth, Tx, he resided in Seminole, Tx and Hobbs, NM, until he arrived in Destrehan, La where he graduated in 1965. He attended Louisiana State University where he earned his B.A. in Elementary Education. He is retired from the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, with 32 years as a 5th grade teacher at Bernard Terrace in Mid-City Baton Rouge. He was very proud of all of his home DIY projects. In the late 1970s & early 1980s, he restored 3 antique cars.

He is survived by his children, Timothy Rapier-Fernandez and Terri Anne Chiasson, his devoted sons-in-law, Chad Fernandez and Ryan Chiasson, and his grandchildren, Thomas (Katie Galatas), Kaden, Paisley, and Saige Chiasson. He is also survived by nieces, Sonya R. Bouse, and Carla R. Leonard, both of College Station, Tx, nephews, Cedie Pippin and Terry Todd Cooper, and aunt, Sylvia C. Darter.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 ½ years, Annette Bonfanti Rapier, his parents, Donald Lloyd and Minerva Culver Raper, brother, Tom Raper, sister, Revena Brooks, and niece, Tonya Pippin.

Per his request, there will not be a service. A private burial will take place at a later date in his family’s plot in Jacksboro, Tx.

In lieu of flowers or plants, the family is requesting memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Much special thanks and appreciation to the staff at Landmark of Baton Rouge where he resided for 4 ½ years, particularly his nurses Samantha and Jackee, and a heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Darlene. Also, thank you for the nurses with LifeSource Hospice Care, especially Kerri. A huge gratitude is extended to Kevin Piper of Resthaven Funeral Home.
