ROGERS ROCK J. MELANCON

A retired millwright from local 406, Burnside Terminal, and a resident of Sorrento, LA . He died on Sunday, February 24, 2008. Visiting at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 West New River St., Gonzales, on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 from 5pm until 9pm. visiting on Thursday will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church in Sorrento, beginning at 8:30am until 10:30am. Rev. Michael Galea will celebrate a mass of Christian burial at 10:30am. Burial will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery in St. Amant. He is survived by, five daughter and sons-in-law; Raven and Jody Harelson, Camelia and Shawn Bercegeay, Sr., Gail and Larry Millet, Mary and Tim Lukens and Jaci and Steven Bateman, three sons and daughters-in-law; Kevin and Kimberly Melancon, Jeff and Sue Melancon and Duane Melancon, five step-children, brother and sister-in-law, Gilbert and Tooney Melancon and twenty-eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Beauregard Melancon and nephew, Chet Melancon. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Rock was an avid outdoorsman, terrific dancer, great cook and loved by all that knew him.
