Rita Guillot Charlet entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 10:08 a.m., at the Baton Rouge General Medical Center - Bluebonnet. She was 74 years old, born on February 14, 1943 in Plattenville, LA. She was a resident of Belle Rose, LA. She fought cancer with every fiber of her being, while continuing to be a wife, mother, grandmother, and newly great grandmother. Survived by her husband, Alden "Pete" Charlet; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Greg Landry; son, Scott Charlet and girlfriend, Jamie Chabaud; three grandchildren, Kimberly Templet and husband, Chase, Kristie Landry and fiancé, Marshall Heltz, and Alden J. Charlet; one great granddaughter, Emma Kate Templet; two sisters, Lorraine Rodrigue and husband, Philip and Irene Watson and husband, Greg; and two brothers, Danny Guillot and wife, Alma and Ricky Guillot and wife, Robin. Preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Emelda Guillot; daughter, Kim Marie Charlet; two sisters, Nell and Shirley Guillot; brother, Tommy Guillot; half-brother, Russell Rodriguez; nephew, Bubba Rodrigue; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lynn and Louise Charlet; and brother-in-law, Clarence "Billy" Charlet. She was a parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at St. Jules Catholic Church, a member of the Ladies Altar Society, and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She enjoyed working in her yard, reading, playing Pokeno with her friends, and having lunch with her classmates - Class of 1961 Assumption High. Special thanks to her family, neighbors, and friends for their help and loving support during her trying times. Also, special thanks to Dr. Miletello and staff at Baton Rouge General. Visiting will be at St. Jules Catholic Church in Belle Rose on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Father Matthew J. Graham. Burial will be in the church cemetery, next to her beloved daughter, Kim Marie Charlet. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation at ww5.komen.org.
