Richard "Coach" Anthony Gardemal

Richard “Coach” Anthony Gardemal, passed away on January 27, 2024, at the age of 84. He was born November 24, 1939, in St. Martinville, LA.

Coach worked at Shady Grove High School as a teacher and a coach for over 25 years where he coached football and track. He was very passionate about coaching and caring for his student-athletes. Everyone who knew Coach considered him a walking encyclopedia because of his extensive knowledge. Coach loved reading books and spending time with his son. After retiring from teaching and coaching, he worked at Sears. He always told you what was on his mind. 

Coach leaves behind his son, Mathieu Anthony Gardemal (Kameryn Gardemal); grandsons, Grayson Anthony Gardemal and Brayden Mathieu Gardemal; sister, JoAnn Allen; brother, Johnny Gardemal (Annette) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Anthony “Mac” Gardemal; mother, Cecile Gardemal; son, Micah Jeffery Gardemal; brother-in-law, Kenny Allen; and best friend, Coach Dickerson.

Visitation will be at Ascension Funeral Home, Friday, February 2, 2024, from 12:00 pm until the memorial service at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
