Peder Arden Omdal
A resident of Gonzales, Louisiana and native of Bow, Washington, passed away at 2:11 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Landmark of Baton Rouge. He was 89 years old. He retired from Texaco Refinery and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, served in the Pacific Theatre and served on the U.S.S. Mississippi. Visiting at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St., Gonzales, LA on Monday, July 29, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting resumes on Tuesday, at First United Methodist Church of Gonzales, 224 W. Constitution St., from 9 a.m. until service at 10 a.m., conducted by Rev. Mark Goins. Burial in Hope Haven Garden of Memory. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Bertha C. Omdal one daughter, Janene Stokes and husband, Keith one son, Richard A. Omdal and wife, Mary Leah one grandchild, Christian Arden Stokes two step grandchildren: Melissa Istre and husband, Kevin and H. W. Will Barber IV and one great granddaughter, Mary Caroline Istre. Preceded in death by his parents, Peder Martin and Anna Berntsen Omdal one son, Brian Jay Omdal one sister, Marie Omdal and two brothers: Ben and Sanford Omdal. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Gonzales and Texaco Retirees Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to First United Methodist Church of Gonzales, 224 W.
