Paul Elisar Sr.

Paul Dean Elisar Sr., age 80, native of Dutchtown, LA and resident of Gonzales, LA, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. at the Old Jefferson Community Care Center, Baton Rouge, LA. He was an Army veteran, retired from the Baton Rouge Fire Department and a residential contractor. Visiting at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St., Gonzales, LA on Thursday, May 7, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and visiting on Friday, at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mark Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Ruben Reynolds. Entombment at Hope Haven Mausoleum, Prairieville, LA. Survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Monica and Pat Tureau, Nancy and Chris Tichenor, Kathy and Mike Jones, Lori and Bruno Van Moer; one son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Bobbie Elisar; two sisters, Ruth Chaney and Edna Mae Johnston; three brothers, Clarence Elisar, Kerney Elisar, and Melvin Elisar; twelve grandchildren, Nicole Jones, Todd Tureau, Josh Jones, Michael Whittington, Amy Tureau, Amanda Cartwright, Lori Jones, Sarah Elisar, Andersen Van Moer, Jacob Tichenor, Luke Tichenor, and Harrisen Van Moer; and nine great grandchildren, William Herman, Sammy Herman, Gauge and Hunter Cartwright, Payson Smiley, Kinley Whittington, Thomas Cartwright, Derrick Jones, and Dylan Whittington. Preceded in death by his wife, Ann Bercegeay Elisar; parents, Sims and Hettie Elisar; sister, Gertie Poche; five brothers, Sims P. Jr., Edmond, Ray, Donald, and Allen Elisar. Pallbearers will be, Dean Elisar, Mike Jones, Bruno Van Moer, Chris Tichenor, Pat Tureau, Todd Tureau, and Michael Whittington. He was a member and Eucharistic Minister at St. Mark Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 8147, and a Cursillista.
