Norma June Roberts Theriot
Norma June began her journey on June 26, 1924 in Bristow, Oklahoma. She departed this life on June 25 from House of Grace in Denham Springs, LA while in the company of her loving family. Norma June was a child of the Depression. Her family moved to the Rio Grande Valley when she was a girl and she completed her schooling in Mission, Texas. She met her beloved husband Horace during World War II, and when he returned from Europe they married and moved to his hometown, Baton Rouge, where they lived for many years before moving to Prairieville, LA. Norma worked diligently at being a wife, a mother and Granny, and she was very, very good at it. There was always coffee in her kitchen and something good to eat. Norma is preceded in death by her husband, Horace Joseph Jr, and by her mother and father Jettie Lee and Fletcher Nabors Roberts and by her sister Edith and brothers Ray, Burl, and Bill. Her sisters Lucille and Elsie remain in Texas and sister Ruth resides in Florida. Norma is survived by daughter Penny Hawkins and her husband John of Jacksonville, Texas and Pennys son Mica Balcom and his son Benjamin of Marshall, Arkansas. Normas daughter Becky LeJeune and her husband Randy live in Prairieville as well as their daughters: Emily Braud and her husband Adam and their children Madden and Harper, and Natalie Meyers and her late husband Kyle and their daughter Sophia. Normas son Jody and his wife Kay live in Grantsville, MD his daughter Jennifer lives in Friendsville, MD, and his son Eli and his wife Kathy live in Taos, NM. Norma June was a long time member of Carpenters Chapel United Methodist Church at 41181 Hwy 933 in Prairieville and her funeral service will be held there on Saturday, June 28, 2014 from 9:00 am until service at 11:00 am conducted by Rev. Billy Minyard. Interment will be at Greenoaks Memorial Park Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all the friends and family who loved and cared for Norma June, Aunt JB, Granny, and Mrs. Theriot. Special thanks to the staff at Magnolia Assisted Living, facility in Gonzales, caregivers from Home Instead. The staff at House of Grace in Denham Springs and those at Generations Hospice who touched her life.
