Mildred Babin

Mildred Millie Landry Babin, 84, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, after a brief illness at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was a native and resident of Dutchtown Community in Ascension Parish. She was preceded in death by her husband, Murry Henry Babin, who died Oct. 7, 2007. At that time they had been married 62 years. She and her husband resided in New Orleans for 42 years while he was employed by Shell Oil Co. They returned to Dutchtown after his retirement in 1986. Survived by a sister, Shirley and her husband, Sterling Diez nephews, Kevin Diez and wife Collette, and Dale Diez and wife Natalie greatnephews, Wes and Matthew Diez greatnieces, Tessa and her husband, Mike Renaud, and Amanda, Abigail, Mindy, and Nicole Diez greatgreatnephews, Vander and Gabe Renaud, and Mason Diez greatgreatneices, Jacee Diez, and Ava, Grace and Faith Renaud sisterinlaw, Betty Babin brotherinlaw, Curtis Kye Babin and a host of nieces and nephews in the Babin family. Mrs. Babin was born Sept. 8, 1926, and was the daughter of Leo and Regina Elisar Landry. She was a 1943 graduate of the original Dutchtown High School, and a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society. Visitation will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Prairieville, Saturday, Aug. 21, from 9 a.m. until funeral mass at 11 a.m. Interment in Prairieville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ira Babin II, Kevin, Dale and Wes Diez, Mike Renaud, and Ray White. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Prairieville Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 531, Prairieville, LA 70769.
