Melba Hoover Young, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, entered into eternal rest at 6 p.m. on September 16, 2014, surrounded by her family. Native of Romeville, LA and resident of Gonzales, LA, at the age of 92, she lived a joyous, caring, fulfilled life. Visiting will be at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River Street, Gonzales, LA on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary beginning at 4:45 p.m. Visiting at St. Mark Catholic Church in Gonzales, LA on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by the Rev. Jamin S. David. Interment to follow in Hope Haven Gardens of Memory, Hwy. 30, Gonzales, LA. She is survived by her three daughters and sonsinlaw: Loretta A. K. Clements, Patty Carl Sheets, Sandy Lionel King one son and daughterinlaw, Robert Gay Lynn Young one daughterinlaw, Alvis Young and blessed with eleven grandchildren eighteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Elmore Lydia Rome Hoover of Romeville, LA, her devoted husband of 65 years, Hilbert P. Young, Gonzales, LA son, Vernon J. Sluggo Young, and two grandsons: Brent Dean Clements and siblings: five brothers and three sisters. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation and thanks to Dr. William Moore the staff of Cardinal Hospice. Special thanks to Wanda Babin, Mary Poochie Daigle, and Gayle Gautreau for the loving care and comfort given to our mother and family
