Marilyn June Smith, 87, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, September 13, 2025. Born in Mount Vernon, Indiana, she relocated to Prairieville, Louisiana in 1965. She and her late husband, Brady, owned and operated Brady’s Bar in Prairieville for 30 years. She also worked for TRI and Westat as a field operator for 27 years. Marilyn had an amazing life. Her greatest passions were traveling, bowling, and working in her yard. A recent accomplishment was her 50 years of consecutive attendance and participation in the National Bowling Tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she received a plaque, diamond necklace, and her picture in the national bowling magazine.
Marilyn is survived be her daughters, Debbie Cambre (Rabbit), and Angela Eiseman; her son, Mike Smith (Stacy); sisters, Beverly Marchand, Sharlene Church (Ron), Ruth Coffer, and Kathy Walker; brother, James Eaton. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren, Courtney Ricca (Kory), Misty Perez, Devon Eiseman (Joanne), Jordan Eiseman (Natalie), Lauren Delapasse (Tyson), Garrett Smith, Lexi Smith, and Brandon Tyrone; 9 great-grandchildren, Chloe Wilkinson, Claire Wolfe (Easton), Brayden Tyrone, Scotty Caillout, Malek Novoa Perez, GiGi Kramer, Jordan Eiseman II, Grace Ann Eiseman, and Blaire Delapasse; and 1 great-great-grandchild, Cohen Israel and 1 on the way.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Grace Eaton; husband, Brady Smith: son, Wayne Hancock; grandson, Rustin Tyrone, sisters, Dolly Eaton, Wanda Brandle, and Jeanie Duncan; and brother, Gill Eaton.
May her gentle soul, rest in peace. May her memory continue to inspire and comfort those who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held at Ascension Funeral Home in Gonzales, LA, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. And on Wednesday, from 10:00 am until the funeral service at 12:00 noon in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services will follow immediately at Prairieville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brandon and Brayden Tyrone, Devon and Jordan Eiseman, Garrett Smith and Courtney Ricca.
