Marie Brignac

A French Settlement native, she died late Monday, October 5, 2009 at her daughters home in Mandeville. She was 98. Marie and her husband, Henry V. Brignac, Sr. spent 36 years overseas, after raising their children in Haiti, they transferred to Suriname and Africa. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 beginning at 9am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in French Settlement. Rev. Ronald Caulkins will celebrate the mass of Christian burial at 11am. Entombment will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. She is survived by two daughters, Elaine B. Seghers and husband Donald, and Jane B. Brown and husband John E., Jr., one son, Henry V. Brignac, Jr., seven grandchildren; Danny Seghers, Kenny Seghers, Winnie Hart, Lorrie Lee, Kimberly Kennedy, Tommy Brignac and John E. Brown, III, seven great-grandchildren; Daniel Seghers, John M. Jack Kennedy, III, Ryan Kennedy, Olivia Hart, Miranda Lee, Morgan Lee and Drake Brignac, and one sister, Melissa A. Lyons. Preceded in death by her husband, Henry V. Brignac, Sr., her parents, Melissa and Louis Lyons and four sisters; Edith Lyons, Vivian Landry, Margery Young and Regina Hood. Pallbearers will be Henry V. Brignac, Jr., John E. Brown, Jr., Tommy N. Brignac, John E. Brown, III, Harry Brignac and James Hart. Honorary pallbearers will be John M. Michael Kennedy, Jr., Lane Stout and Lawrence Bennett.
