Madeline Elaine Thompson Monroe passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the age of 80. She was born July 15, 1944, in Jersey City, New Jersey to Jessie Lee Thompson and Madeline Fagley Thompson. Madeline earned her master’s degree in health administration from St. Joseph’s College. She worked as a registered nurse for many years, ultimately retiring from the Department of Health and Hospitals as a Program Director.
She enjoyed all things arts and crafts, including quilting, knitting, sewing and crocheting. Madeline was a member of the Healing Touch Practitioners, Nursing Health Study, and the American Orchid Society.
Madeline was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Madeline Thompson; her husband, Raymond Charles Monroe; and her brother, Thomas “Tommy” Thompson.
She is survived by her beloved daughters, Michelle Monroe Crow and Madelaine Monroe; and her adoring grandchildren Danielle Stockwell and husband Brent, Ashley Crow and Christian Crow (Alyssa); and her great-grandchildren Jacob, Ashton, Chance, Bryan and Wes. She is also survived by her sister, Marcelene Thompson; and her brother, Alan Thompson; as well as numerous other loving family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 West New River Road in Gonzales. A Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 2:00 p.m.
