Louis Templet Jr.

A native of Lake, LA and resident of Gonzales, LA, he passed away at 2:30 a.m., Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Ascension Oaks. He was 78, born on April 25, 1937. He comes from a big Ascension Parish family. He was a poet. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Korea Defense Veteran. He was a security guard at River Bend from 1985-2004. Visiting at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St., Gonzales, LA on Thursday, August 13, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until service at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Rev. Corey Olivier. Burial at Mount Zion Cemetery, Prairieville, LA. Survived by his wife, Loyce "Myrt" Templet (the love of his life); a son, Josh Templet; five brothers, Lucien Templet Sr. and Irma Keller, Roy Templet Sr. and wife, Jean, Lionel Templet and Blanche "Chris" Picou, Ernest Templet, and Floyd Templet and wife, Elane; an uncle, Melton Lambert and wife, Betty; a brother-in-law, Royce McGhee and wife, Cindy of Bogalusa; a sister-in-law, Clara "Toto" Forbes of Tylertown, MS; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, Louis "Babe" Sr. and Nella Lambert Templet; a brother, Laben Templet; three sisters, Irene Phillips and husband, Redd, Lea Ida Boyle, and Lorraine Gonzales and husband, Nelson; a nephew, Roy Templet Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Helen Poirrier Templet and Jackie Givens Templet; and a great-great niece, Dakota Simoneaux.
