Kenny Parent, Sr.

A resident of Prairieville, he died early Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at his home. He was 90 and retired from Shell Pipeline Company after thirty years of service. Visiting will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 West New River St., Gonzales, from 5 pm until 9pm, with recitation of the rosary at 7pm. Visitation on Friday, January 30, 2009 will be at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church beginning at 9:30 am. Rev. Eric Gyan will celebrate the mass of Christian burial at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow in Hope Haven Mausoleum, Prairieville. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Rosanna Delhommer Parent, five daughters, Carolyn Shook, Cathy Hatcher, Claudia Helget, Celeste Harris and Karla Metz, three sons, Kenneth, Jr., Clarence and Charles Parent, twenty-seven grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild and three nephews, Frank King, Eugene and Nolan Babin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vives and Edith Parent, four sisters, Ila and Elva Parent, Ida King and Maude Babin and one brother, Alvin Parent. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
