A resident of Prairieville, he died early Monday, March 16, 2009 at Promise of Ascension Hospital in Gonzales. He was 85 and proudly served his country during WWII with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater. He retired from Borden Chemical as a crane operator with over 20 yrs. Visitation will be held at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 West New River St., Gonzales, on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 from 6pm until 9pm and again on Wednesday beginning at 11am. Religious services will be conducted by Rev. Joe R. Thibeau in the funeral home chapel 1pm. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Galvez, La. He is survived by his wife, Viola G. Thibeau, daughter, Donna Pandocchi, and son, Joe R. Thibeau and wife Marcy, sister, Melba Redwine, six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. and Lottie Mae Thibeau, his first wife of fifty-one years, Lillian T. Thibeau, sister, Norma Branch, and infant brother, great-grandson Derek Thibeau and a beloved uncle, Eugene B. Thibeau. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. He was a 32nd degree Mason out of the Cedar Grove Lodge and a longtime member of the I.U.O.E Local 406 Operators Union. www.ascenisonfuneralhome.com
