John Ellis Lalonde, Jr. May 2, 1947 – September 28, 2026

John Ellis Lalonde, Jr. passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026 at the age of 79.

Born on May 2, 1947, in Arnaudville, Louisiana, John spent his formative years in Port Barre, Louisiana, where he developed the strong values, work ethic, and love for family that would define his life.

John proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. Following his honorable service and return home from Vietnam in 1968, he resumed his career as a machinist, a trade he mastered through dedication, skill, and hard work. Together with his brother, Clarence, he later opened Ascension Pump & Machine in Gonzales, LA, building a respected business known for quality workmanship and integrity. John continued serving customers and mentoring others in his trade until his retirement in 2019.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Lilly Lalonde; and his brothers, Clarence Lalonde and Lavelle Lalonde.

John Ellis is survived by his three children, Michele (Brandon) Krieg, John Lalonde, III and Stephanie (Kent) Cicet; his four beloved grandchildren, Andrew Prudhomme, Aaron Cicet, Violet Krieg and Meadow Krieg; two sisters Linda (Johnny) Reed and Sally Aymond. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, William (Kimberly) Reed, Nicole Reed, Melissa (David) Miller and Angela Bordelon as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

John's legacy of service, craftsmanship, perseverance, and love for family will continue to live on through all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 42021 LA-621, Gonzales, LA on Friday, October 2, 2026 at 11:30am. Visitation will be from 10:00am until 11:30am. Mass will begin at 11:30am. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA.
