JOHN EDWARD GARNATINE

A native of Plaquemine, he died at Gonzales Health Care Center on Monday, July 7, 2008, at 11 p.m. He was 80. Visiting at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St., Gonzales, on Wednesday, July 9, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and again on Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until funeral service in the chapel at 10 a.m. Burial in Faithful United Methodist Cemetery, La. 431, Lake. He is survived by a brother, John Earl Garantine and wife Edna; two sisters, Cecilia Garantine Cedotal and Mary Lou Garantine West and husband Harvey; and nieces and nephews who took care of him. Preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Garantine; brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Louise Garantine; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruby and Joe La Valley and Rita and Cecil Shirey; brother-in-law, Allen Cedotal; two nephews, Jason Fitzgerald and Thomas Earl Cedotal; and two nieces, Diane Shirey and Alice Shirey.
