Obituary

James “Jim” Parsons

September 18, 1944 – August 23, 2026

James “Jim” Parsons passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of August 23, 2026, at the age of 81.

During the 1960s, Jim served honorably in the United States Army Reserve. As a young man, he was also an accomplished amateur boxer, earning a Pennsylvania Golden Gloves championship.

In 1976, Jim moved with his wife, Sandra, and their growing family from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to southern Louisiana, where he continued his career as an industrial draftsman. Louisiana became home, and his love of football soon made him a devoted New Orleans Saints fan. He was a Saints season ticket holder for more than 30 years and enjoyed following the team through the many highs and lows that came with being a longtime member of the Who Dat Nation.

Jim lived a simple and private life, finding happiness in the things that mattered most to him. Of all the joys in his life, few meant more than spending time with his grandchildren. Whether sharing a conversation, watching a game, or simply enjoying their company, those moments were among the ones he treasured most.

Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra, and his brothers, Don and Dan.

He is survived by his sisters, Patty Szalla and Janey Alway (David); brother, Ted; sons, Tim (Rachel), Tom (Angie), and Allen; daughters, Mindy (Troy) and Missy; ten grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Jim will be remembered for the quiet and steady presence he brought to the lives of those who knew and loved him, and most of all for the family that meant so much to him.
