James “Jimmy” Minchew, a resident of Sunshine, LA, passed away on May 18, 2026, at his residence at the age of 73. He was born on March 31, 1953, in Douglas, Nebraska.

Jimmy served our country in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Minchew; daughter, Brandi Spencer, and her children, Brandon Spencer and his fiancé Skyla, and Blake Spencer and his fiancé Maddie, and great-granddaughter, Adalynn Spencer; daughter, Crystal Bryan and husband Dustin, and her children, Gage Bryan his fiancé Emily, Gavin Bryan, and Kynlee Bryan; and siblings, Barbara Ahne, Mike Minchew, and Howard Minchew.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, Newman Howard Minchew; mother, Abbie Minchew; daughter, Kandi Minchew; son-in- law, Bobby Spencer; brothers, David Minchew, John Minchew, Charlie Minchew, Steve Minchew; and sisters, Honey Bun Smith, and Teetle Carson.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church from 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum.
