Helen Babin

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant, LA at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2014. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. A native of Brignac, LA, Helen Bourgeois Babin passed away peacefully at her home in St. Amant, LA on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 7:55 p.m. surrounded by her family. She was 90 years old. Helen was a seamstress at the Gonzales Pants Factory and Neese Industries, Inc. in Gonzales, LA. One of the first employees at Neese, she sewed a rainsuit that was proudly used by Mr. Neese as a display model. She and her husband owned Tiny Tots and Toddler Nursery in Gonzales, LA until their retirement. They were both affectionately known as MawMaw and PawPaw by all the children they cared for. She loved to bake and was best known for her cheesecake, homemade bread, and biscuits. She loved sewing, music, dancing, and spending time in her flower beds. Helen is survived by five children. Glynn Babin of St. Amant, LA Gene and wife Sam of Woodstock, GA Arlene and Greg Brignac of St. Amant, LA Sharon Parent of Maurepas, LA and Carl Babin of St. Amant, LA. She is survived by her sister, Agnes Cornett of Head of Island, Louisiana and two brothers Vernace Bourgeois and Bernard Bourgeois of Gonzales, Louisiana. Also, sixteen grandchildren Stacy Babin of Gonzales, Louisiana Tracy Harris and husband Wesley of Gonzales, Louisiana Darrin Babin and wife Jill of Saint Amant, Louisiana Tara Chapman and husband Chris of Pickerington, Ohio Marsha Mellie Babin of Baton Rouge, Louisiana Nick Babin of Lincoln, Nebraska Blane Brignac and wife Dena of St. Amant, Louisiana Brian Brignac and wife Julie of St. Amant Brandi Jobes and husband Jason of St. Amant Britany Brignac and partner Adria Brignac of St. Amant, Chad Duplessis and wife Lindsey of Gonzales, Louisiana Angela Posey Duplessis of Maurepas, Louisiana Coty Duplessis of Maurepas, Louisiana Cary Duplessis of Maurepas, Louisiana Jeremy Babin of St. Amant Michael Babin of Gonzales, Louisiana Mandy Marchand of Denham Springs, Louisiana thirtyseven greatgrandchildren one greatgreatgrandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Wilton Tudie Babin her mother, Annaise Sanchez Bourgeois Father, Florian Bourgeois son, Dwayne Paul Babin grandson, Clint Joseph Duplessis granddaughter, Christina M. Beauregard Brothers Andrew, Paul and Raoul Bourgeois. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Darrin Babin, Blane Brignac, Brian Brignac, Chad Duplessis, Coty Duplessis, Cary Duplessis and Nick Babin. Honorary pallbearer is Jeremy Babin. The family would like to thank Moms caregivers for tending to her every need Ashlie Baker, Monique Kline, Becky Pierre and Cindy Sappington. Also, Dr. John Fraiche, of St. Elizabeth Physicians, and Drs. Gerald Calegan, and Jessica Brown of the Neuromedical Center.
