Harry Cifreo

August 25, 1934 — June 16, 2017

Harry "H.J." Cifreo, age 82, a resident of Prairieville, LA passed away on June 16, 2017. Harry was an Army Veteran and was a longtime member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Gonzales, LA. He retired from Motiva Convent after 30 years. Harry loved and was proud of his family. He never met a stranger and always had a kind word for everyone. He spent his life helping others, was caring and generous and will be greatly missed be everyone that knew him. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Daigle Cifreo; his son, Michael Cifreo; his daughter, Geri Babin and Joe DeArmond; his grandchildren, Halie and Nicholas Templet, Jared and Sarah Babin, and Lacie Babin; eight great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Alli, Andi, Carter, Conner, Carson, Cidney, and Taylor; his brothers, James Cifreo and Freddie Cifreo and wife Gwen; his sisters, Frances Watson and husband Charles, and Theresa Crochet; his sister-in-law, Lynn Cifreo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Harry is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Estelle Cifreo; his beloved son, Chris Cifreo; his brother, Alcee Cifreo; his sister, Judy Cifreo; in-laws, Augustin and Rosa Daigle; four brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law. Visitation will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church, 42021 LA-621, Gonzales, LA 70737 on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 9:00am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517 in Harry's name. The family would like to thank the staff at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in the ICU Heart Unit.
