Gwendolyn (Gwynn) Webb Verbois went to be with her Lord on Friday, September 13, 2024, at home. She was born March 29, 1926, and was a graduate of Dutchtown High School in Geismar, La.
She taught private piano lessons for 59 years to almost 600 students, first in Baton Rouge and later in Gonzales and Prairieville. She served the Lord in churches in Baton Rouge and First Baptist, Gonzales, for many years. Gwynn had a passion for teaching the Bible and missions, as well as piano. She loved traveling, working in her yard, and hosting get-togethers. She also enjoyed playing the organ and piano for her church.
She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, W. Sidney Verbois, sister, Beryl "Bobbye" Culmone, and brother, Elsley C. Webb, Jr.
She is survived by her sister, Iris Whitty of Houston, sister-in-law, Annie Laurie "Sis" Verbois LeBlanc of Baton Rouge. She will also be greatly missed by her son, William "Bill" S. Verbois Jr. (Linda); daughters, Madelyn Edens (Mike), and Jeri Gremillion (Ray); grandchildren, Angela Edens, Vicki Payne (Ken), Natalie Barrois (C.J.), Rachel Gremillion, Lynette Gremillion and Charles Gremillion; three great-grandchildren, Sydnie and Stella Duncan and Trajan Sands.
The family would like to give special thanks to God for so many, especially Sissey Duet, Debbie Ramirez, Melissa Mistretta, Jaime Hall, and Barbara Burton who gave her such love and care in recent years.
Visitation will be at First Baptist Church, Gonzales, Friday, September 20, 2024, from 10:00 am followed by funeral service at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
