Georgette Gremillion Salsbury, age 68, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Born on July 17, 1956, in New Orleans, Georgette was a radiant soul whose warmth, wit, and strength touched the lives of all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving mother, Mary Gremillion; her devoted daughters, Taylor Salsbury and Dustyn Salsbury Williams; and her treasured grandchildren, Ava Richard, Sophia Richard, and London Williams. She also leaves behind her cherished siblings: Kenneth Gremillion Jr., Charlotte Gremillion, Julie Gremillion Cumbo, and Mark Gremillion.
Georgette was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Gremillion; and her former husband and the father of her children, Mark Salsbury.
She was a homemaker, wife and mother by heart, in addition to working in administrative roles later in life. As a young woman, she danced professionally, a passion that never left her spirit and passed on to her granddaughter Sophia. She found immense joy in music, animals, spending time with those she loved, and enjoying the simple, beautiful moments of life.
Georgette was known for her unmatched sense of humor, her empathy, her unique ability to listen and her beautiful gift of encouragement. She faced life’s challenges with resilience and grace, always uplifting everyone around her even on her most difficult days. She was a selfless soul who always put others needs before her own. To most, she was one of the strongest women they had ever met. Georgette left a legacy of what love truly looks like.
She was a woman of deep faith and attended Bethany Church online services where she found peace, comfort and connection in her relationship with Jesus.
Our family wants to send a special thank you to everyone at Jefferson Manor Nursing Home. The incredible staff and the sweet residents who became her second family and cherished friends. You didn’t just care for GeGe, you loved her, and she felt that every single day. Your kindness, your patience, the way you made her feel valued, the laughs you shared, and the comfort you gave her in her hardest moments will never be forgotten. She felt safe, seen, and truly at home with you. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being there for her, and for us.
The family will honor Georgette with an intimate private Celebration of Life.
In lieu of flowers, if you feel led to bless her, the family would love you to consider making a donation to K9 Rouge Rescue. Their cause is something that was incredibly important to GeGe. However, truly, your love and support are more than enough.
