George Phillips

George Edward PhillipsPlowBoy was a working foreman for Brock Services within the Honeywell Plant in Geismar, La, He was a resident of Prairieville, La and a native of Bogalusa, La. He passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the young age of 61 after a battle with lung cancer, surrounded by his loving family at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales, La. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 42 years Patricia Ann Gallagher Phillips, along with two sons and immediate family. Joel Ryan and Gregory E. Phillips, Jennifer David. One sister and one brother, Gladys Brewer and Johnnie Ray Phillips, both residents of Fresno, Ca. Grandchildren Zayne and Wyatt Phillips of Davenport, Ia and Taylor, Austin and Lauren David of Zachary, La. George was preceded in death by mother Victoria and father Ed Phillips and Inlaws John F. and Blanche Gallagher. George was a loving grandfather, fisherman, and mechanic who loved refurbishing and restoring hot rods and antique small engine equipment. While honorably serving in the U.S. Army 19691980, He served in the Vietnam War, where he received a national defense service metal, Vietnam Service Metal, Vietnam Campaign Metal, 3D Award, Cross of Gallantry with Palm and overseas service bar. George also continued his 12th step work during his 20 years of continuous sobriety. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday January 12, 2012 from 4pm to 7 pm with memorial services following at 7 pm at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St., Gonzales La.
