Emily Theriot

A loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she died at the Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at age 92. She was a resident of Gonzales and a native of Plaquemine. Visiting at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St., Gonzales, on Monday, April 11, from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Visiting continues at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Gonzales, on Tuesday, April 12, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Gary Belsome. Interment will follow in Prairieville Community Cemetery. She is survived by a son and daughterinlaw, Irven Dempsy and Juanita Theriot, of St. Amant two daughters and a soninlaw, Alla Ray and Dennis Schnell, of Houston, and Carolyn McCary, of Cleveland, Texas sister, Louise Vaughn, of Lakeshore, Fla. 10 grandchildren, 17 greatgrandchildren, two greatgreatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Irven Tally Theriot her parents Eva Correl Gourgues and Frank Gourgues daughterinlaw, Margret Gautreau Theriot grandson, Mark Theriot soninlaw, Wendell McCary sister, Eva Gourgues Klinpeter and brothers, Sidney, Mervin and Dave Gourgues, who were all of Plaquemine.
