POur beloved mother and grandmother, Emily Ruth Andermann Kernan, a resident of Gonzales was called home by our Lord to join her husband Hubert Jennings Kernan on September 2, 2009, just short of her 90th birthday. Emily was born on September 18, 1919 in Convent, La. She passed away at Carpenters House in Baton Rouge under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice. A very active woman, Emily enjoyed playing bingo and worked part-time until age 87. She was a member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, Ladies Altar Society, and Gonzales Ladies Auxiliary Firemen. P PFriends and family may visit Emily as we celebrate her life on Friday, PSeptember 4, at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, located on Hwy. 44 Pin Gonzales. Visitation begins at 8:30 AM until 10:30 AM followed by mass and Christian burial in St. Theresa's Cemetery. Mass will be conducted by Fr. Boby Alex. P PEmily is survived by her children and their spouses, Stefan and Cheryl PKernan Fontenot, Hubert and Sharon Bernadas Kernan, Mark and Joanie Dyer Kernan, Gordon and Dawn Sheets Kernan, Joe and Margaret Gonzales Kernan, Kevin Kernan, Linda Lanoux Kernan, and Charles and Phyllis Kernan Giardina. P PShe is survived by grandchildren, Seth, Brady, Chet, Andy and Kern PFontenot; David, Leslie, Bryan, and Kristi Kernan; Jennifer Kernan, Dana Kernan Hernandez, Karri Kernan Vaughn, Lindsey Kernan Fontenot, and Mark Kernan, Jr. stationed in Iraq; Jessica Kernan Lambert and Jaime Kernan; Corey and Kylie Kernan; Boyd and Bandi Kernan; and Christopher, Cody, and Cortland Giardina. P PShe is also survived by great grandchildren, Noah, Hannah, Jaden, and Jobe Fontenot; Jude, Kaleb, Sadie and Elijah Fontenot; Julia Fontenot; Caitlyn, Shelby, and Carrera Kernan; Kaleb Kernan and Trace Huber; Heidi Hernandez; Toni and Karlee Vaughn; Kyler Kimble and Jade Fontenot; Brody Lambert and Parker Jolissant; Spencer and Brody Kernan; and Cale and Cade Kernan. P PEmily leaves behind two sisters, Janet Andermann Small and husband Milton Small, and Norma Andermann Ricca, and sisters-in-law Cynthia Pippy Fairchild Andermann, Myrna Bergeron, and Helen Snooks White, and brother-in-law Kern Kernan and wife Mabel Melancon Kernan. P PWaiting to welcome Emily to her new life are her mother and father, PCecile Melancon and Antoine Smallock Andermann, brothers Harold, PGilbert, and Daniel Andermann, and sister, Blanche Bunny Andermann PHaydel.
