Edward "Ed" Joseph Rome, Jr.

Edward Rome passed away peacefully at The Parc Senior Living on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born on March 16, 1935 in Romeville, LA. He was a native of Covenant, LA and a resident of Gonzales, LA. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend; his family was always his highest priority. Ed loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his family and friends. Ed loved watching LSU football and being a jokester. Most of all Ed loved to keep everyone laughing. He loved to “stir the pot” and keep everyone around him on their toes with his sharp wit. He will be deeply missed.

Ed retired from Shell Chemical in Geismar as an Electrical Supervisor and served in the United States Army.

He is survived by his daughters Renee Dyer and Phyllis Babin (Ricky); grandchildren Amanda Babin Dzbor (Juraj), Jordan Babin (Britnee), Nicholas Dyer (Taylor) and Nathan Dyer; his great grandchildren Amelia, Charlotte and Vivienne Dzbor, Alex Babin, Tatum and Teagen Dyer. He is also survived by his sister Ethelyn Rome, sisters-in-law Betty Boudreaux and Dee Anne Boudreaux; and numerous family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Dorothy “Dot” Rome, his parents Edward and Enola Rome, his brother-in-laws Jimmy and Wilson Boudreaux and his sister-in-law Verna Morgan.

Ed donated his body to the LSU School of Medicine, therefore in Lieu of a visitation, we will have a Celebration of Life Open House on Saturday April 25, 2026 from 1PM to 3PM at the home of Ricky and Phyllis Babin for anyone wishing to stop by and share a favorite memory or story of Ed.
