David Wayne Ellingburg, 75, passed away on June 20, 2021 after a battle with glioblastoma. David was born December 20, 1945 in Kilmichael. Mississippi, grew up in Pearl, Mississippi and started his family in Louisiana.He was a proud veteran of the United States Army serving with the 1st Calvary Division. He had a rewarding career in the oil industry and retired from Diamond Offshore Drilling. A devoted father and “Pops”, David loved to spend time with his family, enjoyed traveling with his wife all over the world and the US, as well as tinkering in his shop and fixing things. He was a member of Ascension Baptist Church where he made many loving friends. His quick wit, dry humor, and abounding generosity will be greatly missed. David is preceded in death by his parents W.D. and Katie Ellingburg; brothers Charles, Harvey, and Joe; and father-in-law Lester Haddox. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Marla Haddox Ellingburg; his sons Dustin Ellingburg (Anna) and Josh Ellingburg (Kortnee); his grandchildren Kaitlin, Casen, Dylan and Kinley Ellingburg; mother-in-law Janice Haddox, sisters and brothers-in-law Lynn Culliver (Danny), Les Haddox (Nancy), Laura Manning (Bernie), and Keven Haddox (Anne); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday June 23rd 6:00 - 8:00 pm and Thursday morning, June 24th at 9:00 am with funeral service following at 10:00 am. Visitation and service will be at Ascension Baptist Church in Gonzales, Louisiana with a burial service following in Columbia, Mississippi at the Woodlawn Cemetery. Donations may be contributed in David’s memory to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
