Clarence West Sr.

Clarence "C J" West Sr., age 71, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Ochsner Medical Center in Kenner, LA at 5:04 p.m. A resident of La Place, LA and native of Gonzales, LA. He received a Batchelor of Arts degree in liberal studies from Southern University and a Master's degree in theology from Kenner Christian Theological Bible College. He was a former teacher at Gonzales Primary, East Ascension High School and was presently teaching at East St. John High School in Reserve, LA. Survived by his wife, Cherry Knight West; four sons, Clarence James West Jr., Noel Joseph White IV, Ularn Weden Claiborne Jr., and Micah Elsel Claiborne; sister, Tamara Bell and husband, Sidney Sr.; three brothers, Percy Bell and wife, Jenella, Curtis Bell, and Anthony Bell; and seven grandchildren, Noel Joseph White V, N'dya White, Nela White, A'yaree Claiborne, Taraji Claiborne, Harmonie Lewis, and Calvin Stewart Jr. Preceded in death by his father, James West; mother, Rose Mary Bell; stepfather, Charles Bell Sr.; sister, Catherine Bell; brother, Rev. Charles Bell Jr.; and grandmother, Melvina Bureau Pipes. He was a member and elder at Greater Impact Christian Church in Harvey, LA.
