Carroll Parr

Carroll Parr, 81, a native and resident of Dutchtown, LA was born on September 1, 1936 and passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017, at his home with his caring wife, Carolyn by his side. He was a retired millwright and was an honorary member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America-Millwright Local 729. He enjoyed making a garden, going to his houseboat, fishing, setting out and running catfish lines, and watching sports on T.V. Visiting at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St., Gonzales, LA on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. until service at 11:30 a.m. conducted by Deacon Randy Clement. Burial at Cornerview Cemetery. Survived by his wife of 60 years, married on November 30, 1957, Carolyn A. Parr; daughter, Debra "Deb" Matherne and husband, Keith; two sons, Darry A. Parr and wife, Connie, and Derek A. Parr Sr.; sister, Bevaly Wiegert and husband, Russ; brother, Ronald Parr and wife, Hazel; three sisters-in-law, Katherine Parr, Becky Parr, and Sue Juneau and husband, Steve; many friends including, Charles Cook, Ed and Ruby Joiner; six grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Lucien and Marion Parr; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Ruby Guedry; and two brothers, Luris and John Barry Parr. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. He was a member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church. Special thanks to the staffs of Dr. Knapp, Geismar Fire Department, St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales Healthcare Center, and Hospice Compassus with bringing him home.
