A resident and native of Gonzales, he died on Saturday, June 27, 2009 in his home surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. He was 77. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from the South Central Bell Telephone Company as a cable splicer with 39 years of service. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 29, 2009 at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 West New River St., Gonzales, from 5pm until 8pm. Visitation on Tuesday, will be held at Ascension Baptist Church, 13432 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, beginning at 9am. Religious services will be conducted by Pastor Keith Crider at 11am. Burial will follow in Lusk Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara LaFleur Hodgeson, two daughters; Carla and Lee Shelton and Tracy and Michael D. Gonzales, three sons; Michael Roy and Susan Hodgeson, Terry and Edla Hodgeson and Carroll D. Hodgeson, nine grandchildren; Stephanie Hodgeson Jones and her husband, Neil, Jesse, Orey, Hunter and Cullen Hodgeson, Avery and Jordan Gonzales, Kaleb and Kirstan Shelton, three sisters and brothers-in-law; Betty and James Gayle, Bonnie and Leycester Buratt and Gerry Templet, one brother Bernie Lee Hodgeson and wife Bernice. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernie and Adele Hodgeson, sister, Kathy Jackson, brother-in-law, Donald Dee Templet. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
