Carl J. Schoonmaker passed away at his residence in Denham Springs, LA at 7:15 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2015. He was 90 years old, born on September 17, 1925 in Baton Rouge, LA. He was an U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and a retired self-employed contractor. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. A lifetime member of the American Legion Nicholson Post 38, St. James Masonic Lodge 47, and the Baton Rouge Consistory, 32 degree. Graveside service will be on Thursday, December 3, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, conducted by Pastor Cameron Wiggins and followed with U.S. Navy Military Honors. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen S. and Warren Aulds and Tamara and Andre Zeringue; brother and sister-in-law, Calvin and Mary Schoonmaker; four grandchildren, Misty Aulds, Warren "Beau" Aulds Jr., Stacy Aulds and Clay Aulds; six great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Esther H. Schoonmaker; sister, Bernadette Williams; and brothers, George and Frank Schoonmaker.
