Bruce Eugene Simon was born September 12, 1962, in Covington, LA, and went to his eternal rest on December 4, 2015. Bruce lived much of his life in the Belle Chasse State School due to his severe cerebral palsy. Most recently, Bruce resided at the New River Group Home in Gonzales, LA. His spirit was never bound by his condition, and his attitude was infectious. He made others feel joyful just by his presence. Bruce is survived by his brothers Denis "Chip" Simon, III (Aimee) and Jules "Jay" Simon (Terry), 9 nieces and nephews and 7 great-nieces and nephews. Bruce is predeceased by his father, Denis Simon, Jr., mother, Yvonne Oulliber Simon and brother, Michael "Mickey" Simon. The family would like to thank his lifelong caregivers and, most recently, the doctors and staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital. There will be a memorial service to celebrate Bruce's life on Sunday, December 20, 2015, at 2:00 pm at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plaquemine, celebrated by Fr. Greg Daigle. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the McMains Children's Development Center, 1805 College Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70808, to help handicapped and underprivileged individuals.
