A native of Winnsboro and a resident of Prairieville, she died at 3:15 a.m., Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 77, a retired CNA, Hospice Home Health. Visiting at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St., on Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Visiting continues at the funeral home on Monday, June 4, 2012 from 12 noon until chapel service at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. Melvin Meister. Interment in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery. Survivors include 4 daughters, Mary Silkowski and husband Casey, Kathy Davis and husband Freddie, Sherri Jones and husband Edward, and Mona Smith 2 sons, Greg Carter, and Tony Carter and wife Denise 14 grandchildren and 17 greatgrandchildren. Preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Pearson second husband, Jessie Carter and parents, Marshall and Lela Mae Norman. Pallbearers will be Bruce Welch, Jr., Jason Carter, Zach Carter, Stacy Davis, Darrel Davis and B.J. Soileau. Honorary pallbearers are Edward Jones, Freddie Davis and Trent Davis. She spent her life taking care of people, whether it was waiting tables or tending to the sick and elderly. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, watching hummingbirds and feeding squirrels. Condolences may be offered at www.ascensionfuneral.com.
