Bertha Omdal

Bertha C. Omdal, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 11:17a.m., at Azalea Estates of Gonzales. A resident of Gonzales, LA and native of Oak Harbor, WA. Visiting at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St., Gonzales, LA on Friday, July 29, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visiting on Saturday, at First United Methodist Church, 224 W. Constitution St., Gonzales, LA from 9:00 a.m. until service at 10:00 a.m. conducted by Rev. Steve Berger. Burial at Hope Haven Garden of Memory. Survived by her daughter, Janene Stokes and husband, Keith; son, Richard A. Omdal and wife, Mary Leah; grandchild, Christian Arden Stokes; two step grandchildren, Melissa Istre and husband, Kevin and H. W. "Will" Barber IV; and two great granddaughters, Mary Caroline Istre and Eliza Ann Istre. Preceded in death by her husband, Peder Arden Omdal; parents, Johannes and Emma Van Wieringen; son, Brian Jay Omdal; four sisters, Emma Rodvelt Scott, Betty Anderson, Reka Adamson, and Agnes Penniger; and three brothers, Adrian, Geritt, and Joe "Butch" Van Wieringen. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Ascension Homemakers, and Texaco Retirees Club. Special thanks to Southern Care Hospice, Azalea Estates of Gonzales, and Roshare of Comfort Keepers.
