Barbara Messer

Barbara Jane Messer, native of Baxter Springs, KS, resident of Gonzales, LA, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at the age of 90, at Ascension Oaks Nursing Home. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Gonzales, 1217 S. Burnside Ave, Gonzales, LA, on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at 11 a.m., conducted by Dr. James Law. Inurnment in Lusk Cemetery. She is survived by her son, Bobby Messer and wife, Marietta; daughter, Jane Istre; two sisters; four grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Messer; parents, James Oscar and Audrey Lucille Roam; four sisters; one brother, and son-in-law, Melvin Istre Jr. Barbara was a past member of the Eastern Star. She was a very active member of First Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher, helping with Vacation Bible School, and singing in the Glory Choir. She enjoyed bowling and painting.
