Augusta Polchow

Augusta Mary Polchow passed away in Opelousas , Louisiana on September 5, 2008 at the age of 83. Born in New Orleans , daughter of Johanna Saehman and Valentine F. Polchow; Wife of the late James M. Smith; Sister to the late Robert W. Polchow, Anna H. Polchow, and Val Polchow, Jr.; Loving mother of Beverly R. Smith, Matthew G. Smith, and Ward V. Smith; Grandmother of Lana A. Smith. Augusta Polchow was a long time resident of New Orleans , lived in Mandeville and Covington 1975-1988, and then moved to Phoenix , Arizona in 1988. She returned to New Orleans in 1999 after an illness. Augusta worked as an artist and teacher, and she exhibited sculpture nationally. A private ceremony has concluded.
