Ann Elisar

March 14, 1938 — May 20, 2010

Died Thursday, May 20, 2010 peacefully at home in the arms of her loving family after a 13 year battle with breast cancer. She was 72, a native and resident of Gonzales, Louisiana. Visitation at Ascension Funeral Home from 5pm to 9pm on Friday, May 21, 2010. Visitation will be at St. Marks Catholic Church on Saturday, May 22, 2010 beginning at 8:00 am. Rev. Rubin Reynolds will celebrate a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow in Hope Haven Mausoleum in Prairieville. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. She was a member of St. Marks Catholic Church in Gonzales, a member of the Ladies Altar Society, a Eucharistic Minister, a member of Legion of Mary, a Eucharistic Adorer, a member of Grannies Hugs Quilts for St. Jude, and was a Cursillista, founding coordinator of the adoration chapel at St. Marks Catholic Church, and belonged to various prayer groups and prayer lines. She was survived by her husband of 54 years Paul Dean Elisar, Sr. mother, Elma Bercegeay Decoteau 4 daughters and sonsinlaw, Monica Elisar Tureau and Pat Tureau, Nancy Elisar Tichenor and Chris Tichenor, Kathy Elisar Jones and Mike Jones, Lori Elisar VanMoer and Bruno VanMoer one son and daughterinlaw, Paul Dean Elisar, Jr. and Bobbie Roddy Elisar nine grandchildren Todd and Amy Tureau, Michael Whittington, Amanda and Sarah Elisar, Andersen and Harrisen VanMoer, Jacob and Luke Tichenor 3 stepgrandchildren, Nicole Jones Herman, Joshua Jones and Lori Jones 3 stepgreat grandchildren William and Sammy Herman and Payson Smiley 1 sister and brotherinlaw Catherine Decoteau Gautreau and Pat Gautreau two step sisters, Geneva Decoteau Kling and Juanita Decoteau Stader two brothers Louis Decoteau and C.J. Decoteau and sisterinlaw, Patty Delaune Decoteau Brothers and sistersinlaw Ruth Elisar Chaney and Melton Chaney, Clarence Elisar, Kerney and Fern Elisar, Melvin and Denise Elisar, Edna Mae Elisar Johnston, Laurie Elisar, Mattie Elisar and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceeded in death by her father Clifford Joseph Decoteau, Sr., motherinlaw and fatherinlaw Sims Pierre and Hettie Landry Elisar sistersinlaw Sharon Jones Decoteau, Gertie Elisar Poche, Earline Elisa and Stella Elisar brothersinlaw Berlin Kling, Sims P. Elisar, Jr., Edmond Elisar, Ray Elisar, Donald Elisar, Allen Elisar and David Tims. Pallbearers will be Pat Tureau, Chris Tichenor, Mike Jones, Bruno VanMoer, Todd Tureau, Michael Whittington, Jody Elisar and Robert LHuillier. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Childrens Hospital. The family would like to thank Hospice of Baton Rouge and a special thanks to Kathy Davis and Danette Hutchinson for their care and compassion.
