Alberta Stevens

A resident of Gonzales, she died on Monday, September 21, 2009. She was 85. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 West New River St., Gonzales; from 5pm until 9pm. Visitation on Thursday will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant beginning at 9am. Rev. Jon Koehler will celebrate a mass of Christian burial at 10am. Burial will follow in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Allen H. Stevens, daughter and son-in-law; Kathleen A. and Jeffery J. Walker, two sons and daughter-in-law, David A. and Donna B. Stevens and Timothy K. Stevens; five grandchildren; Angela Walker Marse and husband Darren, Justin Bickham, David Michael Stevens, Katie Stevens and Morgan Stevens; three great-grandchildren, Caroline and Natalie Marse and Breanna Graham. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph J. and Octavia LeBlanc and her sister Bernice Lewis. Pallbearers will be Brandon LeBourgeois, Darren Marse, Robert Mooney, Justin Bickham, Gene Stevens, II, Brett Stevens and Kelby Stevens. The family would like to extend a thank you to her special caregivers; Mrs. Doris Lee, Mrs. Emma LeBourgeois and Mrs. Denette Hutchinson. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid reader and enjoyed being with her grandchildren.
