A resident of Gonzales, he died on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at his home. He was 76. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Eatel as a lineman. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Gonzales beginning at 11:00 am with the mass of Christian Burial at 1:00pm. Burial will follow in New River Baptist Church Cemetery in St. Amant. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Barbara Hanna Gautreau, two sons and daughters-in-law; Roger Joseph and Sharon Simmons Gautreau and Jeffrey Charles and Angie Strength Gautreau, one daughter and son-in-law, Wendy Marie and Timothy P. Ingram, one sister and brother-in-law, Enell Gautreau and Acklin LeBeau, six grandchildren; Andrew Joseph, Taylor Wilson, Jacqueline Ann and Justin Michael Gautreau and R. Austin and Charlie Ann-Marie Ingram. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles M and Lena Gautreau, three brothers; Olen J., Dewey P. Sr., and Alvin J. Gautreau, Sr. and his two sisters, Mabel Gautreau-Naquin and Ola Mae Gautreau-Bercegeay. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. He was a longtime Jambalaya cook. www.ascensionfuneral.com
