Aurelie “Lee” Holliday Melancon LeBlanc, a mother, grandmother, foster parent, and teacher died December 2, 2009 in Baton Rouge, LA. She was born March 20, 1940, in Baton Rouge. She resided in Grosse Tete, LA for her childhood years and attended Shady Grove Elementary School. She has been a resident of Baton Rouge since 1951 and graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy and L.S.U. She was preceded in death by her father, James Sidney Holliday, Sr. and by her mother, Ione McKay Holliday. She is survived by her husband, William Russell LeBlanc, Jr., her daughters, Tristan Grace Monet LeBlanc, Kellee Melancon Menard, her son Major Michael Clinton Melancon, U.S. Army, her grandsons Sean Clinton Menard and Seth Joseph Menard, her granddaughter Meagan Grace Melancon, her son-in-law Corey Adam Menard, her brothers James S. Holliday, Jr., Dr. Dwight Charles Holliday, her sister Linda L. Holliday, her sister-in-laws Bonnie W. Holliday, Rose Redmon-Holliday, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 4, 2009 at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 West New River St., Gonzales; from 5pm until 9pm. Visitation on Saturday will be held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church at 10am. Father Jack Nutter will celebrate a mass of Christian burial at 11am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Corey Menard, Stephen Holliday, Patrick Holliday, Thomas Holliday, Darren Holliday and Joshua Mouledoux. The family would like to especially thank the nurses and staff at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center for their loving care and attention they gave Lee during her final days.
