Wilford “Lonnie” Nickens, a quiet and humble man, passed away at his home in Baton Rouge, on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 10:28 a.m. He was 61 years old, born in Baton Rouge on July 4, 1956. Visiting at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St., Gonzales, LA on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Graveside service on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge, LA. Survived by his son, Steven Ray Nickens; his mother, Lorraine H. Nickens; his sister Lori Nickens Badame and husband Will; his brothers, Rocky Nickens, Lance Nickens and wife Laura; his 4 grandchildren; and his numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father, Ray Leslie Nickens; step-father, Mel Harris; and grandson, Steven Ray Nickens, Jr. Ascension Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.     Haven’t seen Lonnie since high school but have often longed to find him. Well the lord found him for me. I am so sorry it happened this way but I am happy to know that I will be able to see my old friend again one day. I knew he had to turn out to be a really good guy. He was a good guy then. I will pray for your family.
